Prospect Park Picnic House Wedding Venues Brooklyn, New York

prospect park picnic house

Proceeds benefit Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit organization that sustains Prospect Park. The Picnic House is a charming and historic event venue in Prospect Park, adaptable for occasions in all four seasons. With scenic views of the 90-acre Long Meadow, outdoor access and a working wood fireplace, it provides a bucolic setting in the heart of Brooklyn.

Describe your venue:

It was designed in 1911 by landscape architect Ralph D. Cornell, the then college-age California newcomer who would go on to design the grounds of UCLA, the La Brea Tar Pits and the University of Hawaii. And because this contemporary art-packed park lets you nosh next to Yayoi Kasuma tulips or Magdalena Abakonowicz’s sitting figure, we chose it as the best picnic spot for art lovers. In more than a decade of Los Angeles living, I've determined that the best meals in this town are eaten under the sun or the stars. And since every night isn't an occasion that merits the patio at Spago, that leaves a lot of space to develop a strong picnic game. And while out-of-towners might assume a picnic simply involves a delish portable meal on a blanket on a green lawn, we Angelenos know better.

What’s the best time of year to have a wedding in the park?

Sidle up to one of the lawn bowling pitches or by the three reflecting pools at this sweet West Side park that is in Santa Monica but has more of a countryside feel than a beachy vibe. It’s not too crowded, and has a clubhouse to rent in case you want to make your picnic a more formal affair. Comprising more than five acres on UCLA's north campus, this outdoor sculpture garden is one of our nation's finest. Be sure to check the web site for the map of sculptures before you go, to enjoy your picnic in view of work by your favorite artists (Maja by Gerhard Marcks is shown here).

What is the starting site fee for wedding receptions during peak season?

The Picnic House is the perfect venue for your outdoor ceremony on the sprawling Long Meadow, alongside the comfortable amenities of our stunning indoor space. We have curated a spectacular list of vendors to recommend for your event. Recently completed is our beautiful, private Couples’ Suite where you can relax before & during your wedding. This 12-acre park located in front of City Hall downtown was updated ten years ago to have wide stretches of green lawn perfect for picnicking, an interactive fountain to splash around in and a Starbucks, among other lures. Grab a distinctive powder-coated pink chair and sit for a quick bite or to enjoy one of the outdoor concerts or art exhibits staged here.

The Picnic House can be tailored for every taste and budget, and is a blank canvas to create the ideal wedding or event, no matter the season. There’s a concession stand for chi-chi snacks, or “there are also vendors as you walk along the park so you can get a delicious elote and other Mexican treats,” says one visitor. An expanse of grassy lawn where you can not only put down a picnic blanket but also (unofficially) let your dog run around off-leash? That’s the happy arrangement at Lake Hollywood Park, where you can chill and nosh under the protection of the Hollywood sign watching over you. You’ll recognize this as the park with the big “Beverly Hills” sign looming over the duck and carp pond.

Do you give discounts for Friday events?

In a shady area toward the middle of 4,210-acre Griffith Park, the remains of animal enclosures from a zoo that closed in 1965 stand in all their rocky glory. Built by the WPA in the 1930s, the zoo’s faux naturalistic design is “delightfully part Bat Cave, part Tiki bar” according to one visitor. You can climb the monkey bars still in place, or just sit at one of the picnic tables facing the zoo and imagine what it was like to experience the place with roaring big cats and bears.

prospect park picnic house

Do you have a site fee for wedding receptions at your venue?

The viewpoints from the park’s bluffs let you see all the way over to Catalina on a clear day, and there’s a long trail that leads down to a pristine beach below that’s a protected marine sanctuary. Go for a swim in the water, then hike up to the upper picnic area at sunset for an unforgettable end to a Southern California day. Want to picnic while sitting in the middle of not only art but also vivid plantings? Just outside the gallery, artist Jenny Holzer’s Blacklist commemorates the motion picture artists who were denied employment in the 1950s after they refused to testify in the House Un-American Activities Committee hearings.

The Picnic House in Prospect Park is a popular New York City wedding venue located in a charming and historic building in the heart of Brooklyn’s premier park. With scenic views of the 90-acre Long Meadow, outdoor access, floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors and a working wood fireplace, it provides a bucolic setting in the heart of Brooklyn. The Picnic House can be tailored for every taste and budget, and is a blank canvas to create the ideal wedding or special occasion.

What months are included in your peak season?

Join Prospect Park Alliance on Mondays, April 15 & May 20, 2024 for a special series of open houses at the beautiful Picnic House in Prospect Park. Beyond viewing the Picnic House in all its finery, you will meet some of our exclusive caterers and event specialists who will help you create your perfect celebration. AutumnIn fall, the park bursts into a riot of colors–a gorgeous backdrop for your special day. The crisp weather means you can still take advantage of the outdoor space and head back indoors to party the night away. With scenic views of the 90-acre Long Meadow, floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors and a working wood fireplace, it provides a bucolic setting in the heart of Brooklyn. In the Valley, we love lounging on a blanket near the 27-acre lake to watch the people paddling by on rented swan boats.

But the big day came and the café, bakery and bar’s doors finally opened on the north side of the park’s Picnic House. HistoryThis stunning venue was built in 1927 and still features its original tile roof and French doors that lead to the terrace. The space has been renovated to include gorgeous lightings and windows for couples and their guests to take in the panoramic scenic views.

This is an excellent spot for picnics and photoshoots with endless scenic nooks and crannies. The park holds the outdoor-seating Avice Meeker Sewall Theater for 400+ people which is where the Redlands Summer Theater Festival is held. Publisher's Clearing House told Business Insider it's grateful the Polk County police arrested the men accused of the scam. By the end, Judd said she had sent Lawrence and Richards $477,000 in three separate checks.

Calling All Small Landlords: When Does It Makes Sense To Hire a Property Manager?

Whatever price you choose should at least be higher than your personal expenses in order to make a solid profit when renting out the property. While a landlord insurance policy provides a lot of great coverage, it does come with a higher price tag. If you’re willing to pay for landlord insurance, it could be worth it in the long run – especially if you plan on buying and managing multiple rental properties.

The rental application will ask you to list details about your pet, emergency contacts and personal references. Along with deciding how much you can afford and what you want in a home, how to rent a house involves browsing rentals online, which you can do at Rentals.com. You can narrow down homes to rent based on price, the number of bedrooms, amenities and whether they're pet-friendly. Don't forget to factor in other expenses, such as application fees, pet deposits, utilities, renter's insurance and other property-specific costs, like parking or homeowner's association fees. In some parts of the country, it's cheaper to rent a house, as home prices are rising faster than rents, according to ATTOM Data Solutions. Nearly half of consumers prefer renting because they can avoid the cost of repairs and maintenance, and 38 percent appreciate the flexibility of renting, a LendingTree survey found.

Short-term rental pros

This puts certain groups at a disadvantage, including some self-employed people, those who live on welfare and individuals with large and recent gaps in their résumés. If you’re renting with roommates, everyone who will live in the house must sign the lease. Your housing expenses shouldn’t be more than 40% of your monthly income, Case Western Reserve University recommends. Even if your credit score isn't that high, you can still rent a house. You just may need a guarantor on the lease, someone who agrees to step in and pay your rent if you can't. But renting or leasing out your home to tenants for the long term is a very different animal from the occasional rental stint on Airbnb. In this example, the home has a positive cash flow of $5,364 per year.

You can acquire a credit report from one of the major agencies such as Equifax, Experian or TransUnion. Just make sure you follow the rules under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Though these additional services can cut into your bottom line, they have many benefits and can provide landlords peace of mind. But to be a successful landlord, it’s important to always keep an eye on your expenses. There are a couple of workarounds that can often change the refusal of a lease into an approval.

It also helps to take high-quality, sharp photographs to accompany listing your property, particularly if you’re trying to rent to the luxury vacation market. “If a tenant burns themselves on your stove, they’re more likely to sue you for that,” Dearing points out. Tell your insurance broker that you’re going to have tenants coming and going from your guest room, and ask what you need to do to protect yourself. They’ll know which riders you need to add to your home insurance, or where you need to increase your coverage. When making decisions, look at the overall rental market as well as a specific property.

“Call any office in the area you want to rent in, and the duty agent who answers the phone can assist you,” she said. Real estate agents are often willing to help people find a rental home because eventually, many renters become buyers. An agent can help target specific areas, such as neighborhoods encompassed by a specific school district.

If the current tenants are in, find out what they like about their home, and whether any issues or repairs have been dealt with promptly. When renting an apartment, expect to have a background check done. Renting with bad credit isn’t the end of your rental-hunting journey.

Major and minor repairs are a landlord’s responsibility

If you like the looks of a house for rent, and the landlord has answered questions to your satisfaction, make sure you also tour the area to get a sense of whether it would be a good fit for you and your family. If you can’t afford to buy your own home, you can upgrade your living arrangements by renting one. Because of differences in data collection and housing policy, caution is advised when comparing Scotland's estimates with other areas in England and Wales and within Scotland.

This means that a large proportion of data for Brent are from recent months. Since UK rents have been rising at a record-high pace for more than a year, this has led to a sharp increase in the estimated rent price for Brent recently. Annually, over 450,000 private rent prices are collected in England and around 30,000 in Wales, 40,000 in Scotland, and 15,000 in Northern Ireland. Inflation is the rate at which prices (for renting or purchasing property) rise and fall over time. Interchangeable with "annual inflation" (or "annual growth", if positive).

Working with an adviser may come with potential downsides such as payment of fees (which will reduce returns). There are no guarantees that working with an adviser will yield positive returns. The existence of a fiduciary duty does not prevent the rise of potential conflicts of interest. But depending on the area where your rental home is, you may want to take out additional policies to cover vandalism, burglary and other potential threats. “It’s no longer your home; it’s your business — and it needs you to think critically and avoid emotional attachment to the property at all costs,” says Fields.

Be sure to provide your tenants with proper notice before performing any inspections according to your state and local laws. There are a couple of inspections you might need to get throughout the rental process. One of the necessary inspections is a move-in inspection, where both the landlord and the tenant go over the current state of the house. That way, the landlord can have a record of the condition of the home before the tenant starts living in it. Another essential step in the rental process is deciding how you’re going to collect rent from your tenants each month.

In some cases, you can either be refunded this fee when the lease is up or it goes to the last month’s rent. Paperwork for renting an apartment is a given, however, there tends to be a bit more when it comes to renting a home. Keep in mind, if the property is in a popular neighborhood in a hot real estate market, you won’t want to waste any before time letting the landlord know you’re ready to begin the application process.

If your tenant or property cause you enough trouble, you could even decide to sell, just to avoid the headaches of renting. Setting a rent price that’s too high may result in a property sitting vacant for a long time or frequent tenant turnover when renters leave for a more affordable place. On the flip side, a monthly rent that’s too low could result in leaving money on the table or even negative cash flow. Some investors who own rental property locally begin by doing their own management, while remote real estate investors usually decide to hire a local professional property manager. Some landlords will require a security deposit equivalent to a month’s rent, which would cover any damage to the property you might cause during the term of the lease.

Before you sign your rental contract, understand what type of rental lease agreement you are signing. In the US, the vast majority of rental lease agreements are either fixed-term leases or automatic renewal leases. Fixed-term leases (say, of six months or one year) are best if you know how long you want to stay somewhere.

Other unexpected costs landlords should factor into their overall expenses include yearly upkeep costs, insurance and taxes (which tend to run higher for rental properties), and any periods of vacancy. These can all tack on a pretty penny, especially if the home stays vacant for a while and you get stuck covering the mortgage and utilities. Perhaps you’ve tried to sell your home but the market’s too sluggish and you’re tired of paying the mortgage. Or maybe you’re moving to a new area but want to hold on to your old real estate property and rake in some income on the side. Or you might think it’s a savvy idea to hold rental property in a rising market as a real estate investor. Before beginning your hunt for the perfect rental home, you’ll need to figure out what you can afford.

Charlotte Tilbury on the Inspiration Behind Her New Fragrances

Download the app now to discover Rose Lust for a rosy-pink lip glow and Berry Bliss for a just-kissed, berry-pink tint. One thing to know about me is that I never leave the house without some sort of lip gloss, oil, or balm in my handbag. I’m constantly rubbing my lips together, and the feeling is just not the same if the product isn’t hydrating (sorry liquid lipsticks). I’m always on the hunt for a product that will moisturize and stay put for a reasonable amount of time, so I looked to one of my go-to beauty brands, Charlotte Tilbury, to see what I could find. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir is infused with crystal ingredients and has some big claims.

The Fragrances

Silva is reserving this sexy fragrance strictly for date notes. “Awaken your senses with magic in a bottle,” Tilbury says of Magic Energy. With top notes of bergamot and myrtle (a white flower), this earthy scent sweetens up with jasmine and cashmere, along with a hint of palo santo, for a sensorial walk-through-the-forest experience. You’ll notice a star and the Roman numeral “I”— both symbols that represent “grounding energy,” according to Tilbury—etched onto the vibrant emerald green bottle.

What Makes Charlotte’s Magic Lip Oil Elixir Magic?

Hi, I’m Hollie, and I’m passionate about everything beauty. Over the last decade and a half, I’ve tested thousands of products to bring you the best of the best! I also love bringing you fun and creative beauty looks.

As its name suggests, Joyphoria, a warm, floral fragrance, represents the mood-boosting effect of vitamin D. The subtly sweet vanilla scent is all too familiar in my fragrance lineup, but with the addition of coconut water accord and ylang-ylang, it brings a welcomed tropical twist to my norm. I tend to gravitate toward comforting yet sophisticated perfumes that remind me of the California sunshine, but still feel mature enough to wear at the office, and that’s exactly what Joyphoria is.

Pros and Cons of the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Lip Oil

Flip it open to reveal the glass, potion-like vessel, reminiscent of the “Drink Me” vial in Alice in Wonderland. I wasn’t sold on the idea that my perfume had these transformative powers. Thinking about my perfume collection, though, I do have sultrier scents I reserve for date nights and bolder blends I spritz on before I walk into an important meeting.

My AIRbrush Flawless Lip Blur is available in 8 FLAWLESS shades that were BORN BACKSTAGE, including my ICONIC Pillow Talk and Walk of No Shame hues! All products are independently selected by our editors. If you buy something, we may earn an affiliate commission. I have both the new tinted shades to show you. I absolutely adore Rose Lust, although Berry Bliss will be fab for something a tiny bit more intense.

This line emphasizes feelings of emotions you can construct with your olfactory system. Tilbury brought on a team of perfumers and scientists from International Flavors & Fragrance (IFF) to transform the powerful feelings she wished to evoke into six attention-grasping perfumes. To do so, they used what they call a proprietary “emotion-activating” AI algorithm called Scentcube.

COLLAGEN LIP BATHNEW! PILLOW TALK FAIR

I’m a big fan of natural-looking lips, so the subtle color of the lip liner paired with the oil gives me an overall poutier appearance without looking like I’m wearing too much color. The hyaluronic acid formula revives my dry, flaky lips. You can shop the Charlotte Tilbury Collection of Emotions fragrances on Charlottetilbury.com for $150 each or a discovery set of all six scents for $30. As for the emotional impact More Sex alludes, Silva sees it as a fragrance that makes you want to roll your shoulders back and throw on a bold red lip before you strut out the door. But will she rotate More Sex into her everyday wear?

As an overnight lip mask, it works delightfully well. Waking up to hydrated, perfectly conditioned and chap-free lips is bliss! I find that wearing this day and night really helps with the overall appearance of my lips. While I can’t say the oil has given me a lip filler effect, my lips are no longer as rough as before.

It’s a nice little touch considering there’s no way to prevent lip products from landing on the tongue (and that I’ve tasted one too many irksome lip flavours). With over 30 years experience, Charlotte Tilbury MBE is the world's number 1 makeup artist and British beauty entrepreneur. Charlotte established Charlotte Tilbury Beauty in 2013, which is now a record-breaking beauty brand that has won over 400 awards. For supercharged skincare tips, tricks and expert advice, book your FREE virtual consultation with Team Tilbury now! As for the amethyst-colored glass bottle, the color purple is said to symbolize balance and restoration, similar to the pull of a new moon, which is etched on the front with the Roman numeral ‘VIII’. Drawing inspiration from fairytales, each bottle is encased in a box resembling a storybook.

They look plump and in good shape, in just a week’s worth of use. I absolutely love the soft shine this formula gives to the lips. It feels instantly soothing and hydrating and makes my lips look juicy without being ‘over-the-top’ shiny. These UNIVERSALLY FLATTERING pinky-rose and berry-toned hues love your lips and make them look instantly fuller, defining the lip contours and delivering a tinted, mirror-shine stain effect.

I don’t think it can be compared to the texture of a lip balm or other lip products. The consistency feels like an opulent mix of water, oil and gel and it applies nicely to the lips. Since using the lip oil, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the flakiness of my lips, so I’ll continue using this on its own and with my other must-have Charlotte Tilbury lip products for lasting hydration. The texture is really light and doesn’t feel sticky to wear. It’s really nice on it’s own and will make a great moisturising base or topcoat for lipstick too. Plus, the fact that it isn’t overly glossy means that men could use it as a nice flattering lip conditioner too.

At first sniff, you’ll immediately pick up Cosmic Power’s top notes of black pepper and cinnamon bark, followed by warm, cozy amber accord and vanilla bean. Tilbury describes the spicy-sweet fragrance as “empowerment in a bottle,” calling it invigorating yet enchanting at the same time. On the outside of the morganite glass bottle, you’ll notice the numerals “IX” etched onto the vial, along with a sacred heart with flames, which is said to symbolize all-encompassing, passionate, divine love. If you’re intrigued by a mix of gourmand and tart notes, with a touch of floral, Blay thinks you will love this scent—no pun intended. She is famous, like Dolly Parton, for sleeping in her makeup. Her eyes sparkle as she speaks with the runaway, chatty energy of a hostess welcoming you to a party.

All the venues were so full it was standing room only and you had to get there 45 min. early to get a seat. Overall it was a great experience and all four of us had a wonderful time. It was only a 3-night cruise though so everything was jam-packed. I didn't feel we got to experience enough because there were so many things going on at the same time and we couldn't do it all.

The cruise will feature days filled with concerts, artist Q&A sessions, panel discussions and game shows. There will also be collaboration shows from some of the artists on board, as well as autograph sessions for fans to meet their favorite musicians. Wrestling and rock fans will love this Sixthman cruise with wrestler and musician Chris Jericho. For the fifth installment of Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea, cruisers will sail on Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem from Miami to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. For the price we paid, I wanted to do more of what they offered than what we actually got to do. Having said that, it was a very fun experience and definitely glad we did it. Sixth Man did a great job putting the event together. The couple times I had to go to information desk they were always upbeat friendly, and helpful. Hope you have a great time on your theme to Chris. Sixthman's domestic homeport of Miami brings escapes for guests to dream destinations in the Virgin Islands, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and The Bahamas.

You’re a longtime Bonnaroo attendee and organizer, and it seems like you’ve tried to imbue the immersive experience of that festival into the Sixthman cruises. We’re the Pioneers of festival cruising, and will continue to push the limits of our industry - at sea and on land. We promise to deliver the best festival experience imaginable. We know you have limited vacation time, and we value your choice to spend it with us.

Music Themed Cruises

Creed consists of four talented musicians, namely Scott Stapp (lead vocals), Mark Tremonti (guitar and backing vocals), Brian Marshall (bass guitar), and Scott Phillips (drums). Each member brings their unique skills and creative flair to the band, contributing to their distinctive sound and success. The music jams on deck were amazing … Joe Bonnamassa and Tommy Emanuel rocking out … unreal. I've gotten lots of gifts on the music charters I've been on also - mostly logo items of limited practical value, but I do appreciate the thought behind them.

Guests can secure a cabin on one of Sixthman's Fall 2023 events - including Bert Kreischer's Fully Loaded At Sea - with just a $100 per person down payment, regardless of cabin type, exclusively through online booking. This offer only applies to the ARB payment method and cannot be used for Sixthman's monthly payment plan. "Cold beers, sunsets, open water, bikinis, speedos, day drinking - this cruise has all my favorite things in one place and that's why I wanted to take my Fully Loaded Comedy Festival on the high seas," says Kreischer.

Since 2001, Sixthman has set the stage for moments that make life rock, serving over 300,000 guests on over 150 unforgettable vacations on sand and at sea with their favorite artists, athletes, actors, comedians and brands. Sixthman’s domestic home port of Miami brings escapes for guests to dream destinations in the Virgin Islands, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and The Bahamas. Sixthman, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, creates music festivals at sea designed to set the stage for moments that make life rock!

The launch of the Summer Of ’99 Cruise and the Summer Of ’99 And Beyond Cruise marks a significant milestone for Sixthman. These cruises introduce an artist-branded event franchise for the first time in Sixthman’s history. This innovative concept is a testament to the company’s commitment to providing unique and immersive experiences for music enthusiasts. Rocking and rolling is not how most people prefer their cruise ships. However, if you're sailing on a music-themed cruise, rock 'n' roll is the vibe you want as you soak up some sun and cruise the world with thousands of like-minded music fans. So, where I see the US market going is this movement towards not just festivals, but immersive experiences.
